This certificate program will give you the skills to gain employment within an aged care environment. This qualification addresses work primarily in residential facilities under direct or regular supervision within clearly defined organisation guidelines and service plans. Study this course and learn how to work effectively with older people, participate in the implementation of care plans, provide support to patients and follow WHS safety procedures. These workers:

  • Carry out activities to maintain personal care and/or other activities of living for people in an aged care setting
  • Carry out activities related to an individualised plan
  • Report directly to a supervisor and are not responsible for other workers.

Clinical placement:
Workplace placement is a compulsory part of the course. You will need to complete a minimum of 120 hours of clinical placement in a residential aged care facility as part of training program in order to complete this course. You are required to organise your own work placement with an aged care facility of your choice & in consultation with Start Education. Current police clearance is required prior to commencement of your clinical placement. First Aid certificate is also recommended but not essential
